7mo Old DS scared of the Bath

Ok, so this is partly my fault. I have a spinal curvature, so as a tiny baby it was easier to just "top and tail" DS in the kitchen sink when my DH wasn't around to help me bath him, because it was too painful to try and bath him on my own.

Now he's a bit bigger and can sit up without needing to be held, its not practical to do that anymore and i need to bath him, but because he's not had much experience of being actually sat in water, it upsets him and he cries for the whole time he's in the water.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to help him get used to the water and understand its really not scary or a bad thing?

Are you bathing him in the big bath? You can get a baby bath that sits on the big bath. It is called a supabath i think and it is on the mothercare website. I had one and it meant i could stand up and bathe ds1.

You could give him a plastic cup to hold in the water to distract him while you bathe him.
