Separation anxiety?

My DS is 7 months old and still showing zero signs of separation anxiety. He’s happy to go to anyone and really doesn’t seem overly bothered about me at all. Although he gets excited when I hold my hands out to pick him up, he never holds his arms out to me to picked up. He doesn’t even flinch when I leave the room or when I return to pick him up from a babysitter.

I just worry that he hasn’t bonded with me as he should. I’m forever waiting for a little back, for him to show a little affection for me but nothing so far.

I think it’s a good thing that he’s not clingy or needy, it’s so difficult when they are (my niece is) my son was the same as your little one, but he soon started being more affectionate when he was a bit older,, he’s now 5 and although not all over me, he is very sweet and loves a cuddle and always tells me he loves me. It’s not that we didn’t bond it’s just the way he is. I wouldn’t worry.

Separation anxiety usually starts around 9 months or so and peaks at 18 months. Speaking generally.

My boy has only just started showing signs of it now at 11 months. He tends to cry or whinge when I leave the room but I assure you before that he flatly didn't care who held him or picked him up or where I went. Even now he's not bothered when I leave for work in the mornings! Grin I wouldn't worry, I'm sure we both have it to come when they are older and we'll both be wondering what we ever complained about!
