Handling strong willed child

My 8 year old is very strong willed, she is a super sweetheart, but at times ...I just can't get her to do anything. Anything and everything has to check her in her heart, that's when she will do. Ladies pls share how you handle strong willed kids and how to talk things through to get to their heart..

no advice but my 5 year old dd is very strong willed too and wont do anything she doesnt want to

I have two children like this! Sometimes I do a 5 or 10 second countdown requiring them to do something like put on their shoes - if I reach zero and they haven't done it they lose some TV time. They normally come running just as I'm about to reach zero.

Does she respond to reward charts- earning stars over the course of a week for all the good things she does - and then she can get something small she really wants at the weekend.
