Hi- looking for advice and reassurance. Advance apologies for the length of this.

DS (10mos in 1 week) is worrying me a bit. Over Easter he ate mountains of food and still had BM as normal. Then last Thurs/ Fri, not so rapaciously hungry- no worries, we thought he was returning to normal. But his appetite seems to have dwindled since then. He started cutting out meals and has not really eaten properly in 2.5 days- just 2 Organix rice cakes yesterday! His poos have got more frequent (about 3 p/d) and explosive (monumental effort on Weds- like a holiday in Basra). Now it's more like diarrhoea, but is a pale yellow. He is still drinking, in fact is making his milk sign very often (do demand feeds most of time).

After 7-8 long months, we had just got a nice little routine going and it's all out of the window. That doesn't worry me so much; it's the fact that it's such a big change in so short a time and has been going on for close to a week. He seems generally happy otherwise, though on Weds afternoon played happily only with me very very close by. Rest of family say it's just teething. He is drooling like mad, and wants to bite everything- even the carpet. He has 4 teeth already but didn't have these issues when he cut those teeth. However he did have green nappies before teeth came. And his cheeks flushed at night. No flushed cheeks or green poo this time round- just what I mentioned before, and also that his complexion looks a bit flat to me, and he has a couple of spots, dribble rash and a few "patches" on his butt. We try to keep him immediately dry and clean.

I just wonder if any of you have any ideas what might be the underlying cause? Should I be concerned? No one else seems to think so.

Oh yes, and although he has been playing very happily and chatting away at times- he keeps wanting his dummy (normally just has it in the car and at sleep-times). Poo more yellow, but still very runny and paler than usual.

this morning: after a restless sleep, he woke up happy. He has had several feeds at night and in morning, upon (signing) request. He is playing and laughing, but has had 2 filled nappies since waking- very runny and pale again. I have some probiotic drops in the fridge- should I give these, what do people think?

Thank you InTheHouse- I really appreciate the reply.

Since my last post, we've had prolific and explosive diarrhoea And he who is normally full of manic energy has been quiet and somewhat listless, so I ended up phoning NHS direct yesterday afternoon. At the moment we've just got to ride the storm and wait for improvements.
