The old chestnut...'playdates'. WWYD if anything?

My DD is 6 and in Yr 2. She has a best friend. This friend also calls DD her best friend. So far, so good. The problem is DD has never been invited to this girl's house (or even inside it). She has been to ours several times and seems to enjoy it. The other girl often has others to play after school so it's not that she doesn't 'do' playdates. It's become a big issue for DD - why am I never invited/why can't I go to X's house? What do I say? I wonder the same thing myself. Would it be too weird to ask the parents why DD is never invited? At least if I did, I'd have something to say when she asks!

So difficult. Does your DD have some kind of special dietary requirements or allergy? The other parent may be concerned about having her to play?

I have no idea! My DD is Y3 and has exactly the same with a friend. She has been once-dropped off and picked up when it was friend's birthday activity. Friend has been here a few times and even for a sleepover.
I just don't get it. Am looking forward to a time when they just arrange these things themselves.

Thanks for the replies! No dietary needs with DD. She (literally) eats everything. She is quite boisterous and I worry that the friend's father thinks she is 'too much' as the friend is placid in comparison and has somehow vetoed any visit. Another girl in their class who lives close had, in contrast, been to theirs often and is sometimes invited in spontaneously as we are all walking home. These invitations are the ones that really upset DD as it's totally in her face that she's left alone. Not sure there's a solution but at least we are not alone ☹️.
