My DD is 15 months and has started screaming and crying all day long. She is well, as we have ruled this out. Nothing is right for her, ie she wants something then she doesn't, etc. We have tried ignoring her, giving her attention. Nothing seems to work. DD is our first child, one thing that makes me worry is my DH does work away rather alot and wondering if this has anything to do with it........ Does any one have advise?

Are you overstimulating her maybe? ie when she starts to get upset do you offer her lots of different toys etc? Sometimes its best to just go and sit on the bed with her or pick her up and look out of the window.
Also if you get anxious when she cries she may pick up on it and it makes it worse.

My ds2 started doing exactly what you describe at about the same age. Some days I would just have to hold him while he screamed for an hour or more. I remember one particularly memorable occasion when he screamed for 30 minutes so I pushed him up the road to the park to try and settle him. He screamed all the way there. She screamed the whole time we were at the park and then cried all the way home too! The bad news - we never did work out what the problem was, it wasn't overtiredness as he always slept well, although I suspect with hindsight he might just have been going through a big development spurt but the good news is that it didn't last too long! It might be worth getting a sling suitable for toddlers so that you can carry him around and get on with other things at the same time.

You have my sympathy, it's really upsetting and difficult when they're like this.
