Tips on busy 15 month old

Hiya, not sure if I’m in the right place but just looking for advice please....
we have a VERY busy 15 month old (first child) and he is in to everything.
dh’s parents have their Christmas tree up already.. ... I know!!
DS is cared for by grandparents twice a week while I work, but are having problems with him leaving the tree and decorations alone. They’ve said they pull him away and say no, 20-30 times a day. But he just goes back and giggles. MIL is now suggesting Ds has some form of hearing loss or adhd I have reassured her it’s just normal busy toddler behaviour but she’s now saying it’s getting too much to look after him as he’s not listening. (But only with the xmas tree)

My question is does anyone have any tips on teaching him to leave it and will he eventually get bored? His nursery is now fully booked on the days mil has him so would be a mission to find somewhere else before xmas!

Get a mini Christmas tree just for him, get him into choose the decorations or even better make them himself. Get grandparents to make a big deal of saying this is DS tree and this one is Grandparents tree, only play with your own tree you don't touch the adult tree. His tree to be played with lots and made really fun.

However, the tree might just be the reason they are using, they may have realised they don't want to be running childcare on their days off/ in there retirement? Perhaps just too much commitment and responsibility now? It's long, hard work running after toddler, especially when your older. You don't want their relationship with son to be chore rather than pleasure for them.

The behaviour sounds normal to me! I am finding my toddler is starting to do things which provoke a ‘no’ reaction, just because he finds it amusing. He knows the things he shouldn’t touch, and keeps trying and trying. I assumed this was totally usual human behaviour! He’s too young to fully understand or react appropriately to the word ‘no’. He’s just playing and experimenting and trying to get a reaction. My response would just be to get a baby fence thing around the tree. Babies this age will just touch everything in their reach! You’re MIL sounds like she’s overreacting massively!
