Help me talk to my DD about growing up?

Please! My DD is 9 and I have found it very difficult to talk to her about growing up. She doesn’t want to talk about it and tells me this. I have mentioned periods in the very slightest way and she looks horrified, I can’t begin to tell her about sex! She is a really sensitive little girl and really polite, she hates anything gory. I KNOW she needs to know or someone else will tell her but she just doesn’t want to talk about it. I asked if she might like to look at a book with me about growing up once and she said no.
I have an older DD and it was so much easier. Any tips??

Get the older one to talk to the younger one if that seems appropriate.
If not tell it very matter of factly when driving in the car or somewhere where you don't need to look at each other and can't escape.

Get the book anyway and leave it where she can find it. Don't comment on it when you get it or when you notice it's been moved.
