im back,i posted a thread on my daughter 16 months who doesnt sleep.anyway i have a idea on this and just wanted a opinion.a few days ago she was ill so i slept in her room [i have a bed in her room as well as cot] anyway for the first time ever she slept right through.fair enough she was probably drowsy with her not being well.anyway i have been in her room for the last few nights and she still is sleeping straight through.now heres my theory......if i sleep there a few more nights, maybe her body clock will adjust and she will atomatically just think im in the room when im not.or do you think she would get use to me being there so when im not she will kick up like she used to do.is this making sense or is it ive finally gone mad after 16 months of sleep deprevation

it could work. worth a try anyway.

I would think it would be worth a try. A few nights of sleeping through might get her 'set' to carry on.

Fingers crossed for you.

meant to say, if she has got into a pattern of not sleeping then sleeping a few nights through may break that pattern even if it means you sleeping in their a couple of nights.

Also even if it doesn't work then at least you will feel better for having a couple of nights of unbroken sleep.

im not going mad then haha.thats what i thought if i could get her into the habit of sleeping as by god ive tried everything.never in 16 months have i had a night where i go to sleep and stay asleep.i could be woke 3,4 times a night for sometimes a hoour at a time.and ive never slept past 6am.im living on 4-5 hours of sleep.

Why not try a ?placebo/control? run with her ? i.e. don?t sleep with her tonight and see if she wakes up? ?prove the theory type thing?...If she doesn't settle then you go back to it tomorrow then if she does ---- theory proven..maybe?

Couldn't you try the gradual retreat method?

Move your bed closer and closer to doorway, then I suppose 1/2 way through doorway, and eventually onto landing...

Have just read my last sentence and it sounds like a sketch for Monty Python, but the idea was good!

Didn't popsycal end up doing something similar? I mean sleeping in her DS2's room for a while? Or am I getting mixed up?

misdee · 13/04/2007 22:00

i have done it with all of mine. they all slept on and off in the same room as me till about 2, or in dd3 case, 2 and 2months.
