reward chart advice please

my ds is only 2.3 so i need to make a reward chart that is fairly basic so he can understand it and so he doesn't loose interest.

it will be for brushing his teeth morning and night as he is messing me about lately

He will get a star sticker on his chart when he does his teeth well with no fuss and nothing when he is naughty.

how many stars is a good amount for him to recieve a small reward without him loosing interest?
i could either do it so that if he gets a star in the evening then the following morning he can have a treat that day, or should i leave it until he has something like 5 or 10 stars?

what is a good reward? only something small but not sweets

at 2.3, if you let him help pick the stickers in the shop, the sticking on of the stickers could be quite a treat in itself, if you spin it that way

maybe after a week a treat... a new book, something like that. tbh it's easier if the sticker is the treat iyswim

The way I have used star charts has changed as dd has got older.

When she was your son's age we used to give a reward for every five stickers, regardless of when they were earned.

When dd was a bit older we started giving a reward if she got 5 stickers a week (one sticker a day). If she got twenty stickers in a month, she was able to chose a bigger present.

She's now almost 6, and we have started to use a sticker chart again as her behaviour for dh at bath/bedtime has gone downhill. At the moment she has to get a sticker every night, otherwise she isn't allowed to go swimming on Sunday morning.
