20 month old and potty training

My ds is 20 months old and has started telling me when he’s done a poo. Is that a sign he’s ready to be potty trained?

My DS started this around 15 months or so, but we haven't started potty training yet (18 months now). I bought a potty to see if he was interested but mostly he tries to use it as a hat! A few of my friends kids do it too but none of us have started either. I'm not sure what the clear 'signs' are to be honest.

My ds from about 13 months would get the mat and nappy out to get changed, I bought a potty then but I didn't start training till 2.3 years, that's when they recommend, and it took a week for it to click with him., ah! I pee in the potty!

We tried showing ours the potty again a few times and he walks over to the toilet. Hope he decides a potty is OK in a few months or do people go straight to toilets?

Some people do go straight for the toilet, I went for potty as we had one loo at time, it was upstairs and do works nights. It was easier for me to have potty down stairs saved going upstairs every 30 mins lol x

Same for us with the loo situation, only one and upstairs! Going to wait til he shows a bit more interest then we'll see if thats in potty or toilet.

In my limited experience of one child.. we left it until she was so ready she pretty much took her own nappy off at 2.9 months and was potty trained in a day! We had a potty in the house for months before to get her used to the idea and we had a book...Princess Polly I think it was called. Every child is different and there is no harm in trying but I also feel there is no rush.
