Hi,
Our son is 3.5 and we have suspected for some time that he might have tongue tie. He did have it snipped when he was a baby but we have read that it can grow back if certain exercises aren't performed afterwards.
He has terrible problems with speech. He talks all the time but we can only understand 5% of what he says. The result is terrible tantrums and often he just stops trying to communicate. When we do tune into what he is saying and feed back to him he lights up. He's amazed that we know what he is talking about!
We have spoken to a couple of ENT specialists who have dismissed tongue tie as having an effect on speech. We also struggle because getting my son to open his mouth so somebody can have a look is almost impossible.
Has anybody had a similar experience to us and can they recommend an ENT specialising in paediatrics who has more of an open mind to tongue tie and speech difficulties?
We live in Nottingham so ideally midlands although we would travel further for the right person.
Many thanks
