Does your toddler lie down on floor to play?

I've noticed that DS (2.5) likes to lie down fully to play (e.g. with his cars or Brio set). He spends a lot of time fully lying down, often on his side with his arm outstretched and his head resting on the outstretched arm.

So many toddlers / young children do this? (as opposed to just kneeling on the floor to play... though he does do this sometimes too)

Ds did with cars. He was watching the wheels. e also liked to try and lean out of the buggy to watch the wheels.

Hopefully a few more people might be along as I wanted to get a feel for how prevalent it is.

My nephew does this, he's also 2.5. Any reason why you're asking?

Y my boys did but the girls didn't usually. It was things like the train set and the castle. Girls had equal access but never really used as much.
The girls did lie on the floor to colour and draw though.

My DS did this too when he played with his trainset.

rixed the reason I'm asking is a bit convoluted.....the short answer is: to allay some worries I have....the long answer is, well, probably very long to recount and doubtless tedious to read!

My 18 month old does this all the time for cars and other wheeled things.

Hi.. my toddler also like to do that.. all day long.. when he wake up in the morning, out from the bedroom, first thing he do is : take his car toy then lay down.. and repeat it so many time all day long. And exactly the same position as you described as your son do.. did you find out why? Is that something normal? Or something wrong? I kind like worry.. and he also love to #stayathome, dont want to use "hangout" cloth.. just use his old "home" cloth everyday..

My son 2 years and 4 month now.. and he pee when laydown.. dont want to go to toilet to clean up.. he really love to laydown, stick with the floor.. is that normal for toddler?

It is not normal for him to be doing it all day.long, all toddlers are fascinated by.spinning wheels but all day long sounds very extreme - it is likely to be a form of visual stimming (looking at wheels at eye level) and could be concerning if he is showing any delays in his development.

yess my toddler really really like wheels.. i realise it when he is 6 month, he love to see the tires on the car while moving.. it happen untill now.. he focus on the tires. he love car.. but i guess, he love the tires.. and he is quite smart, he can count 1,2,3,.. to 20 when he is 22month.. he also can spell A-Z when 24 mo, and now he already now many colour, many fruit, many thing.. he learn while watching his fave song in youtube. but this habbit, lay down about 10times or more a day and never attract whenever i call his name, this concern me a lot.. look like he didn't hear me even i use a loud voice to call his name.. i know he hear me clearly, just dont bother to look at me.. i kind like scare to say, is it a sign of adhd?

My son who is 4 and a half does this. Less so now but he did it a lot during his play with trains, vehicles etc when he was 2-3. It's common, he had two friends who also did it. His pre school teachers made me think that it was "strange" and I spent months worrying about him (I also had PND/PNA).

He's fine. He's quirky. Can be anxious and stroppy. But he's bright, kind, happy and sociable.
