Anyone heard of controlled comforting?

I know about controlled crying and apparently this isn't the same. Supposed to be something favored in Oz and is a much less stressful (for Mum) way of teaching a child to sleep. I gather there is even a DVD available, but can't find it on Amazon. Anyone able to shed any light?

I typed 'controlled comforting' into google and it came up with and Australian link in which they go through the steps. Seems very similar to cc to me.
