My lo is 9 months...when in his high chair, he "jumps up and down" pushing his feet on the board underneath him. He crawls commando style, does "breakdancing" actions when lying on his back and when he gets in the bath lying on his back he does a breastroke leg action and waves his arms around madly creating huge waves which cover his face, he swallows the water and gets me really wet. A lot of babies I see are so peaceful at this age....is this normal or am I headed for a hyperactive toddler (I said to my dh this morning I was worried he'd have ADD or something??)...
If I put him down to sit down he crawls off. He also gets himself really tired, then goes into meltdown and sucks his thumb....it's becoming exhausting....!

Sounds like a typical boy baby to me!! (sorry, that's sexist, but I've got two of them and they were both like that at that age - bad news is that they're 5 and 3 and haven't stopped yet...).

lol sounds like my ds when he was that age! it was like he'd been trying to move for ages and the minute he got moving he didnt stop, and he sucked his thumb, dont think there's anything you could do and just sounds normal, ds is nearly 2 now and is much calmer but still thumb sucks

Just to balance the points of veiw.

You LO sounds just like my DD, at that age she was walking by 10months, was and is still a water baby.

I have to say that she has not stayed in the same spot since she figured out how to move, she would wiggle across the floor at 3 or 4 mths.

Now at 3 she is just the same.

Mmm, oh dear. I think I might take the tips of one of the popular threads about children and noise and invest in some ear plugs for when he's older. He's clearly also trying to assert a little independence at the moment - he already knows which of my buttons to push...

My DD was certainly comanado crawling at less than 6 months, she was doing it well before I went back to work, she was also cruising and desperate to use those legs. She walked at 10 moths and ran soon after that. She has also really loved the bath and has always dunked her head right under.
It is exhausting, but great, enjoy!

normal baby!

JodieG1 · 04/04/2007 22:17

Sounds like normal to me My dd and ds1 were like that. Dd didn't walk until over a year but ds1 was crawling at 6 months and walking at 9 months, wondering what I've got in store for me now with ds2 12 weeks tomorrow hehe.

sounds like both of mine.. a boy and a girl.

i tend to breed mad children though so maybe not normal after all!
