2 year old not even on the height and weight chart

My 2 year old was born on the 9th centile for height/length and weight. Since he was about 9 months old he dropped off the height centiles and I think is 2nd percentile for weight.

I haven't been worried as DH's family are really short (males no taller than 5ft 4) and DS eats well, talks well, is developed well in every other sense he's just tiny!! He has very soft stools but I put that down to still breastfeeding?

I'm going to speak to HV at his 2 year healthcheck (whenever that may be, I have no idea!) but do you think it sounds like they will want to get him looked at??

You might have to just wait and see, they might want a referral if they feel he's not gaining enough weight- they seem very keen on referrals in my area. If they do it's not necessarily a 'bad thing', just getting hin checked out. Have you had him weighed recently? As I understand it crossing 2 centile lines triggers a referral but they sometimes do that from a couple of weeks old rather than birth.

I wouldn't have though bf would effect his poo at this age!

Choccyhobnob · 13/09/2017 22:01

No I haven't had him weighed since 12 months, this is just me weighing him on the bathroom scales.

I didn't think anything of his poo as it's all I've ever known until I mentioned it to someone else and they said it should be solid and fully formed?

Hoping our next health visitor visit is soon rather than at 2.5 years...

I worried about ds's soft poo for a bit (he wasn't bf at this point). Is he potty trained? We've only potty trained ds recently, he's 3.9 and only now he's doing it out of a nappy does his poo look formed! In a nappy it just looked like baby poo!

I'm sure if he's eating well and developing well you've nothing to worry about.

We had dd's 2 year review postponed indefinitely last month as our hv team are so over stretched.

No he only turned 2 this week, haven't started potty training but have been doing some cloth nappying which isn't pleasant with non solid poo!!

So sorry to resurrect this thread but wondering what came of this as my 3 year old is also extremely small for his age.

@ohinvertedworldyou could try an @ to see if the OP is still around, if not then you might want to start your own thread Flowers
