Newborn wind

My 3 week old has had awful wind the past 4ish days. He wakes up and seems to be in real discomfort until he passes wind. He is also getting more difficult to settle after his feeds, which I think is related. He has been formula fed since birth.

We have so far tried putting more effort into burping him during his feeds but he doesn't give it up very easily. We have also been using infacol for the past few days but nothing seems to be helping.

We are currently looking in to changing to cow and gate comfort milk tomorrow.

Has anybody had any similar experiences? I just don't know what to try next.

Hi we had similar issues around that time. We tried colief drops, really expensive but sometimes help with wind. They break down the milk protein (I think!!) so it's easier to digest.
After that we also tried dentinox which is meant to work like gripe water but can be used by newborns.
There's a chance it could be silent reflux or cows milk intolerance which is where we're now at! If the over the counter stuff doesnt work get to GP and see what they think. We're on gaviscon, ranitidine and aptimel pepti which has the milk protein broken down even further and that really helps!
Good luck finding the right solution, it's a bit trial and error but you'll get there!
