11yr old night waking!

Ds is almost 11, just started yr 6. He has always needed a wee in the night, not every day but at least a couple of times a week. Not a problem, ofcourse he is plenty big enough to sort himself out but it does wake me up every single time as the bathroom is right next to our bedroom. He's scared of the dark so he puts all lights on on his way and struggles to open /close his bedroom door quietly.

I had kind of just accepted that he does this, hoped he would grow out of it but all week he has got up twice every night and I am really struggling with being woken up like this and find it hard to get back to sleep again.

I am worried it's a bit of a coincidence that this has got worse since going back to school. He insists everything is fine, he just needs a wee.

Any advice??

Could you get some of those dim, night lights which are just plugs? You plug them in in the hall so he can see...and give him a torch for his room?

Also...what about just telling him not to close his door when he's been to the loo and leaving it open generally?

Until he can close it quietly at least.
