I have a 7yr old boy who when he is busy playing or just doesn't feel like going he will wait till he either wees an amount in his boxers. Or he can't walk to the loo he is squashing himself so much.

Tonight he said he needed to go he remembered our downstairs loo was broken so he shivered and said no I don't need to go actually. He was on the iPad (school home work site before I'm judged!) So I took the ipad and said fine your not having it till you try for a wee. Told him he had ten minutes till bed so go and try. He is very stubborn and said fine I'll just sit here then, which he did.

Took him upstairs and it had wee'd quite a lot in his boxers. He had tried to hide his boxers. He then kicked off and was shouting and crying. I didn't say anything other than no iPad this weekend. He refused a story so I left his room. He then cried angrily for 30mins mins. I did go in but it made him worse.

I have no idea what to do. His older brother with ASD was late potty training but he was dry in a weekend and never had accidents! This son was having accidents for months and months.

As hard as it is to ignore, I personally wouldn't battle with him over it. He's old enough to decide when he needs the toilet so I wouldn't mention it even if you can see him squirming. If he has accidents just calmly tell him he needs to go and clean himself up and change. Hopefully if he gets no reaction from you, he will decide that he doesn't like having accidents and will start to choose to go himself rather than it becoming a battle of wills x
