My DD age 7 keeps making comments
'I'm just stupid'
'You think I'm stupid'
'I'm fat and ugly'
She is definitely at least average intelligence/looks, prob above average (as all mum's think). And she is very slim build.
I have always told her she is clever, kind,fun,beautiful. Have I inadvertently made it seem too important?
These things are always said when she is upset (often trying to do homework when she doesn't really want to). Is she just trying to distract me from whatever she is trying to avoid?
Any advice on how to build her self esteem?
or examples of your children who said these things but didn't actually believe them just being dramatic?
