DS (3) hates the bath

What is the best option?

Ds hates the bath, he'll hit out, scream as soon as we go into the bathroom, but he loves the swimming pool.

How do we get him liking the bath again?

Thanks

Have another baby?

This was the only thing that worked with DS - he screamed at a bath for over a year until DD was born & he saw her enjoying her bath - probably it was jealousy, but it worked!

Get in it with him and play - sit in it first and ask if he wants to come in. On the otherhand, you could try a shower if you have one.

we had such issues with ys especially, and the thing that worked the best was that I went in with him....he now is fine and it's difficult to get him out, now, lol!

New bath toys, bath crayons, new bubbles etc worked quite well, but ultimately having a new baby did it. He would ge in bath with DH. At one point I even let him wear his clothes in the bath.

Thanks for the advice,
Rusty, we hoped he would like it when dd was born, seeing her in the bath, but he didn't. He won't come into the bath with me or my dh, and tbh, as soon as he steps into the room, he really starts to cry, scream, kick out and hit me

hm...have you tried a smaller bath...like a Babybath or a paddlingpool wihtin the bath...maybe it's the bigness of teh abth!
Also, have you had any incidence in the abths...i.e. he got soap in his eyes, or is scared of hairwashing, or slipped or something like that?
Also, maybe you could have him start swimming classes, that might get him used to water more and of course would give him confidence.

Hiya 3easterbuunies,
My ds loves the swimming pool, and we cant think of any sort of incidence.
We did think it might be with the high sides, so going to try the pool idea.

borrow a child who your ds really likes get them to have a sleepover or get ready for bed at yours. Let friend have a bath, really nice play time with you etc etc and hopefully ds will cave and want to join in.

We did this (mine was the borrowed child!) my friend's little boy took 10 minutes to cave in!
