Cluster Feeding?!

I have a 5 week old baby. For the past 5-6 days, she has a couple of feeds in the morning. Then from around 2pm onwards she is on the breast constantly until around 9pm.
She is not dehydated, appears to be getting enough milk and health visitor isn't overly concerned. I assume this is the cluster feeding people go on about? It's exhausting.

My baby used to do this and I spoke to my HV who said anything longer than 4 hours isn't cluster feeding and just using me as a comforter instead. Told me to just carry on and do what I needed to do and not let him be attached to me for hours. It is very exhausting

My DS used to do this. At one point it was 5pm-11pm of constant feeding. I disagree with NJ200's health visitor though as I think it was definitely cluster feeding as it had the 'frantic' quality that was typical of my son when he cluster fed. He was usually a very calm baby but would be frenzied when cluster feeding. He grew out of it after about 9/10 weeks and he'd managed to establish a really good milk supply. I tend to think they know what they're doing.

Sorry, I should add that it is very exhausting and you have my sympathies! Hang in there.

Baby seems to have finished with the cluster feeding (8 weeks and 3 days) had a few cluster feeding sessions last week for 2 days out of 7 - and each session lasted 2 hours.

My LO cluster fed in the mornings for 4 hours and evening for four hours when she was a few weeks old, then one two days on and off for 11 hours! Nuts!

it is exhausting but do stick with it!
