she is a big fan of cbeebies and everytime it finishes for the night and hears the bedtime song they do, she jumps up off the couch and starts panicking grabbing all her stuff and saying to me "come on come on bed bed" it is quite funny to watch and is an amzing way of getting her to bed lol, but she acts like shes terrified and falls over herself to get up the stairs, she even says"im shared" ( shared is her word for scared lolol) anyway i will stop blabbering on now lol, but i am curious to know if anyone has any ideas why she does this?

I wouldn't call it strange. I think it is really sweet.
A million parents are wishing they could get their kids so easily.

Maybe she thinks they are telling her to go to bed and if she doesn't do as she is told, she will be in ttrouble ( from them) - maybe?

i think it goes to show how much the telly influences our little ones. It is cute though, i wish it affected mine like that The night garden has quite a hypnotic affect though so heres hoping. You could easily see if it is cebeebees by not watching for a few evenings and see how she reacts, of course there is always the danger that she might not want to go to bed as she hasnt seen her cue

loopylou6 · 31/03/2007 17:51

yeah devious u may have a point there, thank u lucy i agree, the night garden is fab, we love it lol (although it is a blatent rip off of the teletubbys) the thing is we are missing the end of night garden recently because she knows that the bedtime song is coming up so she turns the tele off, her way of preventing the song i suppose although she wants to go to bed even without hearing it .my hubby was cruel the other night, he started singing the bedtime song well before it was due to come on and she tried legging it to bed, so i then had to calm her down ( and beat hubby up a bit lol ) kids are funny little tyhings arnt they lol.

I love the cbeebies nightime song! We would let DS2 watch it after his bath and then upstairs for a story in bed.

We used to be in a bit of a panic that we had to have himout of the bath, dried, in pj's and ready to watch it or he would kick up a big fuss that it wasn't time for bed.

We then realised that we could just sing it to him instead and he knew it meant bedtime. It was great and less stressful than being tied to Cbeebies programming.

Just wondering if you are rushing her in the same way that we did to make sure she's ready for bed in time and if she's picking up on it?

Malaleche · 31/03/2007 18:06

maybe she once saw something right after the programe that scared her and shes running before it comes on again?

DeviousDaffodil · 31/03/2007 18:07

MAybe she is scared of Chris?
He freaks me out!!

adath · 02/04/2007 20:09

Maybe she is racing to get up to bed before the programming actually totally ends and the screen goes blank.
Maybe being so young scared is not the 100% correct word for it but is the closest thing she has.

GooseyLoosey · 02/04/2007 20:12

Is she really scared or just pretending - dd (2) will sometimes say she is scared but is patently not - I think she just enjoys the playacting. If she is really scared, can you make a point of switching tele off before the song and changing the routine to go to bed then and have a short story in bed?

Bilby · 03/04/2007 14:31

My daughter did the same with a bedtime programme and she had to 'race' to her room and jump into bed before the song ended.
