Bath poo fear

Help. I thought my 2 year old was almost ready to toilet train as she's been desperate to 'use the toilet' and potty recently and super interested in all things wee and poo related. However we had a disaster last week when she accidentally poo'd (a massive poo!) in the bath. I was calm. She massively freaked out crying and shouting 'dirty' and begging for her nappy.

Since then she frequently brings up when she pooed in the bath many times a day. She also refuses to get in it without a swim nappy on - which I tried after days of her sobbing too much to even try. Even with it on she refuses to sit down.

She's genuinely terrified of the bath without a nappy. It's awful and I feel so sorry for her as she used to love baths.

Obviously toilet training is out of the window for now but how do I get her over this fear? It's like she's obsessed with it.

Dc1 pooped in the bath twice in one week once and was scared to get back in. I left it a few days before trying again and put loads of bubbles in. It was a distraction and would 'hide' the poo if it happened again, which it didn't.

Yes I think I'm going to lay off for a few days and give her time to forget it as it's not getting any better and it's been a week!
