Weird spasms

My 11 month old ds has had 2 rather odd spasms, he opens his mouth and eyes wide open and sort of strains his face to the point he goes red. Only lasts a second or two and he doesn't seem bothered by them.
I'm going to phone the gp tomorrow just incase but has any one else's child done this? How concerned should I be?

Hi lovely, It is probably nothing, babies do weird things just because they can. My little niece did something similar and it was nothing. Check with your GP though. One thing I came across in google searches when I was researching for my little niece which was nothing in the end, was infantile spasms. Do his arms go out to the side too? There is a form of child epilepsy called infantile spasms, it's quite rare but apparently the thing to look out for is abnormal eye movement in conjunction with abnormal body movement at the same time. You can find out more info online. I hope it goes well with GP.
