My DS has just turned 5 and completed reception, he didn't know any kids at the school. He seems friendly with all the kids in his class now. He spoke regularly about one boy so we arranged play dates...but they fight like cat and dog! My son is particular about things and can be bossy, i.e. Playing board games correctly, playing football by the rules etc, he's not very imaginative and so once he's learnt how to do something that's how he likes it to be done, no room for made up rules, he's also got a temper and easily wound up. His mate is cheeky and quite a character, anything to get a laugh and knows how to push buttons. It's making play dates unbearable. He has another friend and similarly they're unable to get through a few hours without fighting. This mate lacks concentration and so they sit down to play something and his mate gets bored and asks to do something else within a few minutes, my son gets frustrated with that.
Do most kids bicker on play dates!? I'm inexperienced and wonder if it's just something they grow out of, or is it something I need to work on with my son?
