Tantrums

I have a 2 1/4 yr old daughter who is having the most hideous tantrums at the moment. From not getting dressed in the morning, not brushing her hair, not putting her shoes on and the latest is not going to bed. Screams blue murder for all of these events - I really am at the end of my tether and am feeling very upset about it. This has been going on since about January.

I find the distraction of a large flying pink pig or hippo sometimes works

mine have always had most of theirs when they're tired or when I'm stressed and bloody minded!

they always happen also when you're in a rush so trying not to rush can help!

have been known to let them scream away making sure safe and leave them to it!!

I think tantrums happen when their emotions overwhelm them, so trying to keep that in mind and helping them to work through their feelings could help.

Get organised and give yourself plenty of time to do everything. That way you will be able to stand and ignore the tantrum until it subsides.

good luck and keep calm- its all completely usual and can be exhausting and upsetting as we often blame ourselves for everything etc I always consoled myself with the idea that their tantrums were a talented work in themselves!!
