As the title suggests I'm starting to lose my mind a little. Had my second DC 4 weeks on Wednesday. He is adorable and while he is asleep peaceful but when he is awake he just cries/screams and there is nothing I can do to comfort him.

I took him to the GP today who suggested it was because he was a bit gassy but I don't remember this level of relentless crying with our first! Has anyone got any advice/stories of when this fussiness will end?! It's fraying my nerves as I also have a toddler to take care of and I feel so sorry that the baby is so distressed :(

I'm sorry I can't really help but didn't want to read and run, so bumping for you.

Is he breast or bottle fed?

Thanks, even sympathy helps ;)

He is breast fed and at the last HV check seemed to be gaining weight well. Due another weigh in soon but looks to be chubbing out a little. I just can't stand the hours of crying with so little I can do to help him!!

It is worse when you put him down? Have you tried a sling? Baby massage may also be worth trying.

If all else fails, repeat "everything is a phase, everything is a phase" until this phase is over!
