Speech at 18 months

DS is 18 months. He doesn't talk or make repeat sounds that could be presumed to be a word. He has full comprehension, can follow instructions eg go find a specific book, go get shoes etc. He can act out concepts like showing 'asleep' 'hot' 'up' just no speech. So if your dc was nin verbal at 18 months when did they talk? Or have words?

My daughter said a couple of words at 18 months but not much at all. She's only really started now she's 2 to say more. My friends little boy didn't really say anything until about 2 1/2.

Ds only said car till 22 months. He was 2 last week and now can say 2-3 word sentences and has a word for most things!
If he can follow instructions and show actions like you say then sure he is just fine

'Word' is any sound made consistently to mean something. Animal noises count. Gar-gar for 'mummy' counts.
