Really annoying things your kids do but you try not to get too worked up about because life is too short ...

I'll start with the dds:

-Leaving the lid off the margarine
-Not flushing the loo
-Coming down in the morning (schoolday) and just SITTING on the sofa - er, don't you think you have a few jobs to do?

  • Not tying up their shoelaces (or doing it in such a half-hearted way that they come undone after 10 yards so it takes us AGES to get anywhere as I am constantly saying "dd, your shoelaces are undone AGAIN!")
-Leaving the lights on and their beds unmade -Putting clothes to wash that aren't dirty because it's easier than folding them up and putting them away (actually that one really does make me )

ds:

  • banging on his cot (so hard he has rattled it to pieces already)

But other than that they are lovely children and I love them ...

Getting up at 6am claiming to be starving, then still havn't eaten it by 8.30

Greenshoots · 24/03/2007 11:30

blocking the toilet by using yards of bog roll

ds2 saying "No!" really belligerently, but still doing what I asked him to do, so I let it go

pawing my breasts when they want something

rolling around on the floor whining and twisting

switching lights on and off at random

drawing underground signs on my walls (how does ds1 think I won't know it's him??!?!?!)

chewing their cuffs

taking their shoes and socks off and hiding them

playing hide and seek in their wardrobe and knocking all the clothes off the shelves

too may things to go on

NeuroticMum · 24/03/2007 11:57

There are so many, I cant remember them but here are a few about my ds aged 3

going into the kitchen and opening the fridge then leaving it wide open.

grabbing the handrail thingy in the car every time I try to strap him into his car seat making it impossible.

every night it is a massive fight to get him into the bath then once he's in the bath it's another massive fight to get him back out!

dither · 24/03/2007 11:59

mine are 1, 2 and 3. with a 7yo here part time.
what dont they do thats annoying??

mrsflowerpot · 24/03/2007 12:05

ds - not flushing the loo, except for if ds goes in the night in which case he does and wakes us all up.

dd - going behind the sofas and getting stuck, whinging and screaming to be released, then going straight back there again.

both of them - sleeping in on school days, up with the lark at the weekend.

SSShakeTheChi · 24/03/2007 12:06

"MUMMY you can come and wipe my bottom, I had a mushy POO!"

SSShakeTheChi · 24/03/2007 12:07

actually I find dh more annoying

NeuroticMum · 24/03/2007 12:09

Just remembered another

Constantly putting things in the washing machine. The amount of times I've forgotten to check then gone on to wash things like bananas and various toys. He also once put dh works mobile in there! Remarkably, although a bit battered and bruised, it still worked!

FrannyandZooey · 24/03/2007 12:12

-Bringing in twelve foot of toilet paper a la Andrex Puppy when asked to go and get himself a tissue

-Thinking the above is very cute and clever (ok, I did laugh the first time he did it )

-Shouting "oh you PUNKY!!!" and other rude sounding made up swear words

-Asking to have his gloves on, then off so he can scratch his ear, then on, then off so he can eat his snack, then on, then off

-Collecting huge quantities of sticks; I mean really huge quantities. If anyone lives in Essex and wants firewood at competitive prices then don't hesitate to get in touch

saltire · 24/03/2007 12:14

DS1
Switching on every single light in the house when he goes up/down stairs.
Leaving wee all over the toilet seat
Lying on the floor crying when I say no to anything
He's almost 9 BTW

DS2
Goes upstairs to get dressed for school. Comes down 1 hour later minus sweatshirt and shoes. Send him back up and he comes down with sweatshirt, send him up again. This happens every morning.
Him saying "just one more/just a minute/just let me finish this/just let me watch this whenever we get ready to go anywhere.
Putting empty loo rolls down toilet.

southeastastra · 24/03/2007 12:14

my ds(13) seems to wee all over the loo seat when he goes, i try not to get too worked up but it's hard. the 5 year old can manage it! grr

when i ask my 5year old to bring me a tissue he gives me a tiny inch squared section.

DeviousDaffodil · 24/03/2007 12:16

Askiing for a drink/ snack when I have just sat down with a cuppa.
Wiping their noses on my shoulder/ skirt.

Miaou · 24/03/2007 19:26

Ahhhhhh ... it's good to share! C'mon everybody - it's very cathartic to get it all out

love this one...I have a 3yr old little girl who drives me NUTS!!!!

  • not getting dressed, wriggling around, jumping on bed, kicking legs when i'm trying to get her dressed (am always in a rush) and then laughing at me when I tell her off!!
  • every time i speak to anyone who isn't her she says 'whatareyoutalkingabout, whatareyou talkingabout, whatareyoutalkingabout'
  • if i'm on the phone, she follows me round the house saying 'whoyoutalkingto, whoyoutalkingto, whoyoutalkingto'

ARGH!!!!

This is an awful one and i'm a truly terrible mother but she keeps getting a really bad cough than lasts for weeks and i am soooo sick of hearing her coughing and crying at night...keeps everyone awake and cough medicine does nothing!

margo1974 · 24/03/2007 22:33

Fake crying

Argh!

Housemum · 24/03/2007 22:46

13 year old is physically incapable of putting bloody lids on things! I walk into the bathroom and the lid is NEXT TO the toothpaste, if I venture into her room the lid is NEXT TO the lip balm, NEXT TO the moisturiser etc etc

cheeryface · 24/03/2007 22:55

i bet the list for the dh's would be much worse!
