How much milk 12 months+

Hi all,

DS is only 9 months old but I like to be prepared in advance not that you can tell Grin

I was just wondering how much milk your LO's have after 12 months. I have read that around 14 oz a day is sufficient but just wondered what moms actually find works for their LO's. Also, if he has a balanced and healthy diet, would cows milk (if he'll have it) be fine to use rather than stage 3? I'm willing to use stage 3 but wasn't sure if it was a bit of a waste of money really.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

15 month old here, switched to cows milk at 1 yr old and has about 5oz in the morning and 6 oz before bed. Sometimes chuck a bottle in during the day if she is moaning and wants comforting.

I wouldn't use stage 3, cows milk is fine for them from what I can see.

Hope that helps!

That's fab thank you for the advice!

Yeah I've heard a few mom's say that the HV's have said it's a bit of a money ploy from the company's really! My little one is a food monster anyway so hopefully he'll guzzle the cows milk down too quick to notice there's a difference haha!

At 1 mine had 7 or 8 ozs of cows milk in the morning and 9oz at night. Still has the 9oz bottle at night but just in a cup with his breakfast rather than morning bottle now so I'd guess more like 5 or 6oz.

I just gave both mine cows milk at 1. I switched ds to a sippy cup for his morning milk at 1 which was abandoned quite quickly but he loved his bed time bottle and had that until well over 2. Dd dropped morning milk at 1 and dropped bedtime milk by 18 months so she needs lots of yogurt and cheese!

Reading with interest as I'm still breast feeding my 8month old and wondering whether to try and stop in view of returning to work next month....however I won't be back full time until he is 12months.
So presumably by 12 months I could just feed him 1st thing and bedtime and during the day he will be fine with cows milk in a cup? Or maybe 2 feeds per day at 12 months will be fine anyway if he's eating/drinking plenty?
....seems daft to start a 9month old on bottles doesn't it??

Don't bother with bottles now! Just bf until 1 then give cows milk in a cup. You should be fine to bf mornings and evenings- several if my friends did it.
