LazyTown fan driving me crazy acting like Sportacus!!!

Hi, I?ve been a lurker on here for ages but this is the first time I?ve posted. My ds is 3.5 and has a wonderful imagation and is a huge fan of pretend play. He?s also a huge LazyTown fan and loves pretending to be Sportacus, our dog in particular is always in trouble and in need to rescuing, he has a pretend airship he?s always calling and sometimes it gets broken (I assume it crashes?!) where he?ll get terribly upset, crying and panicking, so I?ll give him a fake hammer (literately handing him air) and he?ll jump up and down a few times to fix it.

Anyway, here?s the annoying part. He does a lot of press ups and balancing on one arm, one leg, obviously I have no problem with him doing any of this at home or pre-school, but he?ll out it outside. Walking down the street, in the supermarket, anywhere and everywhere he?ll suddenly drop down and do press ups! It?s so sudden and the amount of times I, or someone else have nearly tripped over him is countless. But my main worry is germs, if I carried a pack of babywipes to do his hands every time he?s dived on the floor I?d be buying a pack everyday!

How can I make his see that although imagative play is great, there?s a time and place to do it? Surely it?ll be sending mixed messages to tell him off for doing it outside yet I?m perfectly happy for him to do it inside.

Not to mention, he?s a complete dawdler so it takes long enough walking places anyway, by the time he?s walked like a snail and climbed on every single wall we pass, stopped to look at every car, person, animal, digger etc we pass, I?m looking at an hour for what should take 10 minutes, and now on top of all that he?s doing all these Sportacus moves.

Oh and he insists on his last name been changed to Sportacus, and gets upset if he sees his name written down saying, I?m not xx anymore, I?m x Sportacus.

Sorry its long, any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, my boys are 6 and also like to think they are Sportacus! I wouldn't worry about wiping his hands every 2 minutes, I think you need to relax little, let him get on with having fun, and maybe just not let him put his hands near his mouth.
Hope this helps x

Hi thanks for replying. Your right I probably do need to relax and have more patience.

I do worry through as I was like his up till the age of 11, galloping around on my fake horse, instead of playing with friends. My brother still takes the mickey out of me for it now!!

Oh and if we're out and his crystal beeps, he'll pull out his fake telescope and discover the dogs in trouble, then spends the remaining time out demanding to go home so he can save her.

But I suspect he's getting bored out and this is his way of getting me to take him home, I guess it beats a tantrum!
