Completely refusing milk at 9 months

Hi,
My LO has never had a problem with formula, he is 9.5 months old and we were happily having 4 bottles (5/6 oz) during the day and one at night. for his night bottle he will either, wake , have the bottle and go straight to sleep, or take a dreamfeed and not wake at all. Suddenly my happy little baby has completely changed, he refuses all bottles, screams if it's anywhere near him, wakes every two hours at night being hungry and won't be settled. The doctor has checked him out and he has no temp, no ear infection, no tonsillitis (he had that two weeks ago) and we aren't sure what's happening. I've tried using his sippy cup but he just screams, I even fed him a few drops of milk from the lid of his bottle and he gobbled it up so I know it's hunger but it's a crazy way to feed him and he ends up wearing most of it.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful!

I forgot to add, he will have water from the sippy cup during the day, just not at night when he is hungry.

Could he be teething? Have you tried a teething gel, like Dentinox or giving him a dose of ibruprofen?

Have you tried him with an open cup instead of the sippy?

I thought it may be teething but his gums aren't hard and we've tried dentinox and Ashton's teething powder. I wasn't sure about using an open cup as he hasnt quite got the knack of it and spills it everywhere. If it's bottle aversion are there any tips to help?

Mine were both total bottle refusers so no tips there I'm sorry. I did manage to get them to drink out of open cups in the bath, I think it was the novelty. Once they'd got the hang of drinking from an open cup in the bath, we moved to almost always giving open cups.

Thanks, I'll try some different cups and hopefully he will take enough to not wake so often at night.
