....ds,7,to eat with his mouth closed?
We tell him and we tell him, each time he'll finish that mouthful with his mouth closed and then it's off again.
It's driving us all bonkers, and tbh it can't be much fun for him either to be nagged and nagged.
He says he "forgets" and that it's "just a habit".

F knows

small boys and the incredible vapourising brain that evaporates all instruction within a micro second if it entering the cranium.

Um.............send him away from the table to eat standing up in the kitchen? I dunno, I think you will have to implement privelege embargos.

YOu see in the old days it would be a clip round the ear from the Alpha parent and that's the end of it. [whistful sigh tinged with nostalgia]

i dont know is it really gross?

i'm not sure if i am all together with this rule - however i am with this rule a lttle bit.

i'd rather there be fun, talking and laughter round the table, good good food and hearty eating.

think italian. - you cant possibly do all that and have your gob shut all the time.

TrinityRhino · 21/03/2007 08:23

I half agree custardo but dd1 has just come home the last couple of days and said that her friend told her she eats like a pig, she was really upset

she is a little lax with keeping her mouth shut to eat and I do feel like I'm forever nagging

Dunno
I think you have to start really young with this one else it gets installed.
did he used to be good and has got worse?
Reward chart for eating nicely?

powder28 · 21/03/2007 08:40

The thnk you want to avoid is making him so self consious that he wont eat in front of you.
He probably does forget, but im sure, if like trinity, one of his friends says something to him it might have more impact.

I'm all for the Italian thing custardo, absolutely, but it is pretty extreme.
Peanut butter's a bad one, but then i guess it is for anyone!
