My ds 5.5, keeps going to the loo for a wee. He says he is desperate but when he goes half the time nothing comes out. I have taken to following him to the loo and I've seen that nothing is coming out! This has been going on for a week now, he isn't unwell no temperature and more importantly no discomfort when he is weeing. He tells me that he just needs to go, if I tell him he's just been he gets all shirty with me. The other day he went every 10 minutes. If I ask him about he tells me to stop talking about it and gets defensive...My god, defensive at 5 (yikes!) I think he is forming a little habit but I just want to canvas opinion before I take him to the Dr. Anyone else had this behaviour...?

I'd be inclined to take him to the gp just in case its a UTI. I know you usually get pain with them but you don't always.

MY 3.5yr old has done this a couple of times. Think last week was the most recent time but he was also up and down in the night. Nothing coming out but was fine again 2 days later

My boy is dry at night, he doesn't have a problem after bedtime and the school haven't notified me of anything. I asked his teacher to let him drink more water during class time in order to flush him out but that has fallen on deaf ears I think.
When he was a nursery he formed habit of going to the loo and the staff told me about it and he ended up on ab's for a week (which was a nightmare in itself). It transpired that his urine test was negative for infection and he was caught telling the nursery kids that if they told the staff that it was hurting when they went to the loo the staff would ring their mummys and their mummys would come and get them and take them home...there was nothing wrong with him!! I wouldn't mind he was only in nursery 2 days a week!
