My son is 6 years old, well he will be 7 in August. He has always been rather a nervous child, isn't like most boys his age, doesn't like playing with the other boys at school, prefers to play with the girls. Has recently told me that one of his school friends has been nasty and calling him names. This has made him even more clingy. I try my best to encourage him to do things by himself, but it usually ends up with me giving in and helping him.
He has been invited to a Birthday party, which is coming up very soon. He wants to go, which is great, but while all his friends parents leave the kids there, he will want me to stay with him. He went to this girls party last year, and all he did was cling to me and not join in at all. I really want him to have fun and join in, but if he won't leave my side, and panic if i leave him, what can i do? I just feel like i have done something to make him like this.
