when would say a baby can "officially" sit alone. what i mean is for how long without falling over.

morning - i think for the purposes of changing over car seats they need to be sitting for about 30 mins on their own, nut i suppose if they can sit up for 5 seconds unaided then they can sit up

yeah i know the car seat thing. basically i bumped into the hv the other day who asked if ds was sitting and i said not really. she was a bit concerned (even though i know plenty of babies who haven't sat up til 11 months so i'm not particularly) but then afterwards i was thinking what is the definition of sitting up, maybe he can!

hi nappy addict
i wouls think from a hv point of view sitting up would probably be for about 5 mins at a time, ds2 was about 9 months before he sat up for any lenght of time! he always fell over and got stroppy!
