Babysitter tomorrow - stranger anxiety 😮

Hi all. My son is 8 months old and me and DH have a date tomorrow. This will be his second time with this sitter who came for the first time in February and all was fine as he was only 5 months old so no worries about stranger anxiety. Since then he's been left with our parents a couple of times which has gone ok. However my father in law visited a couple of weeks ago and our son got upset when he came into the room and our son was there alone. I am worried about the same thing happening tomorrow when he wakes up from his nap to find a strange lady in the house... Anyone got any experience with stranger anxiety and babysitters? Will it be ok and I'm just being paranoid? Thanks!

I'd love to tell you it will all be fine, but tbh putting him to sleep and then letting him wake up and you've disappeared and there is a random stranger instead is horrendously bad planning!

There's a chance it will be ok, but I really doubt it!

Will you be close by so you can come back if he can't be settled? Can you not move the time of the date so that he is asleep the whole time? Get someone he knows babysit?

At the very least get the babysitter to come early so she can spend an hour with him before he goes to sleep.

Hi Sam! Thanks for replying but actually all was fine. Luckily he hadn't gone to sleep for his second nap when she arrived so she went up to say hello and that was fine and he was also fine when he woke up from his nap. Hooray 😎 x
