Advice please

Hi I'm after some advice about my 8 month old son, I don't no if it's a stage he's going through or what,
The only way I can describe it is like a temper tantrum he will scream tense himself and make him self go red in the face for no reason.
The second thing is he's not sleeping at night either, he was in such a good routine but this last 4 weeks he's waking up countless times screaming (as though he's in pain) I've tried everything I can think of but can't work what's wrong with him.
He's also had a cough for weeks but it's only at night I've taken him to the gp and I just get it's viral any advice would be great.
Please no normal comments

The screaming sounds like he's in pain. How is his feeding? It sounds like it could be reflux or colic.

Teething?

Yeah when he cries it sounds like he's pain but I can't work where he's in pain if that makes, I've rang my gp but they won't see him till next Monday that's why I thought I'd ask if any other mummy's had been through it,
And to be honest I can't see any signs of teething he's not dribbling his gums arnt red and sore I can't see anything white trying to pop through he's not chewing on things anymore than usual xx

Is he arching his back?

No he's not arching his back he just tenses him self up and screams x
