Baby dislikes me

My DS is three months old and seems to dislike me.

We've had issues with him having a milk allergy which has been sorted and could be related to how he is with me.
He's fine with my partner, lets him pick him up and cuddle him. But for me he screams if I pick him up he'll smile at me and laughs but I can't pick him up!

He seems to dislike me holding him as if I was going to feed him, he doesn't mind being on my shoulder but if I cuddle him he cries and wiggles away.

Sounds like he associates that hold with discomfort, now that's not happening just give him some time. Although saying that My DS (3konths) doesn't have any allergies but hates being cradled much prefers shoulder or better still playing lying in back or sat on my lap/floor upright.

Your baby doesn't dislike you. You are probably tired, and a it may seem like that. 3 months old is so little and I wasn't not entirely rational only 3 months in.

Maybe you little one just like being over the shoulder more. My DS was never one to be cuddled lots, he was too nosey and active and whingey so I just put him on his tummy, or in his bouncy chair etc. Now at almost 4 he is the biggest cuddler.

Babies are a mystery because they can't tell you what they are thinking. If he is happy laying in his basket, bouncy chair, swing whatever. Then just let him crack on, put your feet up and have a cup of tea! So many mums would say the opposite that they can never put their baby down without crying and they don't get a break. I would much rather your situation.

How do you feed him is he crying, is he ok when he sees the bottle and chills out a bit?

I have him in his car seat for feeding during the day, at nights he half asleep and isn't as fussed. Night feeds are the only time I can hold him and he won't cry and try to wiggle away.

During the day I keep him in his pram, he's happy watching me clean and making faces at him.

My baby is also not a cuddly baby and I understand it's hard not to take it to heart. My partner is much more relaxed then me and seems happier in his arms. I find sitting him in my lap and jigging my leg is comfier for him as he really doesn't like being cradled. I try to focus more on playing with him on his play mat etc but I know the feeling of just wanting a cuddle from your little one. Do not let it get you down x

This is not your baby not liking you it's the milk allergy! I had the same thing, dd had a bad case of colic, reflux milk allergy etc and she resisted feeding in the day as she associated it with pain 😟
It's not your fault, just try to keep smiling and playing and try some different ways to cuddle. In the meantime let dad enjoy the cuddles and make sure you're getting enough rest and and the occasional break x

Agree with other posters - persist. Babies are smarter than you think, and the avoidant behaviour is self-preservation. He will disassociate you from the "threat" of unsuitable milk in time.

At this age he's just entering the laughing his head off phase. Make sure he associates this happiness wth you.

My baby is the same! We were diagnosed with milk allergy and severe reflux less than a month ago but my baby has a feeding aversion now so he cries every time I cuddle him in any position that could be used for feeding! Don't take it personally - it's not you but the association! Play with him when he's lying down instead! How do you get your baby to take milk? Mine hardly takes any during the day!
