Reception Appeal Letter

I am sure that my son will not get into our preferred School for Reception. I am trying to decide whether or not to appeal and wondered if anyone could help with the appeal letter or advise me how to proceed. He is currently in the nursery class of the school we wish for him to attend. He is a very shy, and anxious boy (this manifests itself in the form of stress eczema and until recently stool with holding). We have informed the schoo lof this and on the whole he is okay. We have seen specialists and although they agree he does suffer they are unwilling to write a letter or help as they say he is not an extreme case. They will not refer us either and have suggested we seek help privately. While I understand that he is not badly suffering and the NHS needs to help those children who are, we just cannot afford to go private. I have copies of his hospital visits and letter from the paediatricians he has seen however. I wondered if anyone has experienced something similar, has a standard outline of appeal letter or could help in anyway.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

I'd ask MNHQ to move this to the Primary Education section. There's a few people with experience who hang around in there

Why won't he get in?

My understanding is that for Reception where there is an infant class size restriction, unless you can prove that the Local Authority has made a mistake it its allocation, or has not followed its own rules, then you stand almost no chance of being successful at appeal. As the consultants are not willing to support you, you have no medical grounds to need your child to attend this particular school.

I am not sure on what grounds you want to appeal..My DS went to school and only knew 3 other children from nursery.. He has made friends with lots of children. If you are convinced he won't get in can you get him in a preschool or nursery nearest to the school he is likely to get into so he knows some children prior to starting school.

Assuming your child is starting September. You will find out this month and would look at supporting your child in the move to school.

I'd agree with moving preschool so he gets to know classmates. I don't think you have an appeal. Best deal with it, otherwise move house or go private are your options

We applied for closer preschool nurseries but didn't get into them... The closest one in in special measures and has been for 5 years... IT was good when me moved here 6 years ago
