What to do with a toddler who hates water on his face

Hi everyone

DS is 2.8 - loves swimming pools and playing with water in bath, but screams murder whenever we wash his hair !

When he was a baby, I had one of those things that look like a sun shade that would stop water going down his face, but they are quite useless and kept falling off.

Now of course he won't let me put anything on his head.

I only do one bath a week for him now, luckily he has fantastic hair that never gets greasy, but still the one hair wash a week is unhappy for all of us !

Have you had this with your child and any tips to resolve it ?

Try swimming googles

We've just been through this with Dd (2.2) The only thing that stopped the screaming was if my Dh washed his hair at the same time - then she actually laughed through the process, quite amazing! This, of course, is much easier if, like Dh, you have next to no hair, but you could do a half hearted version yourself? Or how about washing the hair of a favourite toy at the same time?

Hi - we had this problem so sympathise. We got over it by buying a favourite flannel and folding it up and putting it over DD's eyes. We got her to hold the flannel in place and told her that if she looked up the water wouldn't go on her face and any stray drips were caught by the falnnel. HTH. Good luck

lol - milly - dh is also half bald but ds has masses of long thick hair so washing ds hair is quite a task !

I have tried getting in bath with him to comfort him to no avail. Thanks for other tips, will try anything to stop him getting upset !
