To not give my son his vaccines?

I've done my research and read a lot of things about how toxic the vaccines the NHS offer to parents for our children are. My local gp have asked me several times to give him his whooping cough and flu jab injections but I really don't want to. Read all sorts about how they have mercury in them (very poisonous for human bodies).

Any other parents agree or disagree?

You are an idiot
Whooping cough can kill !

I didn't vaccinate my dd for mmr, primarily because I felt uneasy about it as I have a child with autism. As it turns out I also now have a dd with autism and she had to suffer catching measles. She was v poorly. I regret it hugely; it was stupid of me. Please vaccinate your child.

I really think the word 'research' should become a protected term. The ability to use google is not research.

Unless your child has an underlying condition that prevents it then get your child vaccinated.

Deadly disease care not a jot about your ability to google and can kill your child and others who might catch something from you not vaccinating.

FamilySpartan · 15/04/2017 16:08

You clearly haven't done any research. You've just read some false information that supports your stupid and dangerous ideas. Vaccinate your child.

tinypop4 · 15/04/2017 16:11

Strongly disagree. I think you are a journalist but if not then do some more research and vaccinate your dc asap. Super irresponsible

I didn't have the measles vaccine as my sister "may" have had a bad reaction to hers (they weren't 100% positive it was the vaccine but as this was the 70s they weren't quite so confident in them).

Of course, I then caught measles and nearly died. Really really nearly died. I was also left with a shitty immune system which meant I caught everything going and had it 4 times worse than everyone else.
It's not a quick thing either, I luckily can't remember it but apparently was in hospital for weeks growing weaker and weaker. I was skeletal by the end. Imagine watching your child go through that - and imagine if they didn't make it. To do so due to deliberate ignorance is unbelievable to me.

People forget how horrendous these diseases were because they haven't had them, their family and friends didn't have them and they don't know anyone who died from them.

Ask your grandparents what it is like, they would have lost school friends to these totally preventable diseases.

And don't forget the children who can't be vaccinated due to health reasons. They rely on the herd immunity but that is growing less as more parents make astoundingly ill informed decisions. I really struggle to get my head around it, I don't mean to be rude or belittle their thought process but I cannot understand it

Astro55 · 18/04/2017 15:45

I think schools should reject children who aren't vaccinated.

You are relying on other children being vaccinated- that's a selfish view

SherlockPotter · 18/04/2017 16:21

Not a parent but I disagree. However, he's your child- you do what's best for him. It doesn't matter what we really think!

Bringmesunshite · 18/04/2017 16:55

Destroying herd immunity puts immunocompromised people at risk of death.
You don't get to make that fecking choice for me and then expect me to fund free education for you.

alltouchedout · 18/04/2017 16:58
Hmm
Insaneinthebrain3 · 18/04/2017 23:30

Omg I have had whooping cough as an adult and I honestly don't know how a small child would survive it. It is horrendous and I thank god my kids had been vaccinated and didn't catch it. I would literally not be able to breath and thought I was going to die every night. It lasts months and would say it took me over a year to recover fully. Have you thought about the people you may come in to contact with who have compromised immune systems that could potentially catch these things if your child passes them something on? What if we all decided not to get our kids immunised? All these horrid diseases would certainly do some damage!
