4 yo son not interacting with DH

Hi all,

Our 4yo DS has always preferred me to DH but recently he's been saying things like "Daddy stop talking to me" and "I don't like Daddy". When we try and ask him why he either won't say anything or comes up with something like "Because he sometimes turns the TV off". Sometimes he's absolutely fine with DH but more and more we're getting this behaviour. I keep saying it's a phase but DH is quite sensitive and he really doesn't like it when DS only wants me all the time.

Any suggestions?

Your DH needs to have fun and be daft with your son.

Does DH turn the TV off? Does he do it when DS is watching it? Is he the rule enforcer?

In your shoes I would be encouraging DH and DS to spend more one to one time.

DH can take DS to do some fun things without you....at least once a week. It need not be an expensive outing....just the park with a ball...or out for a milkshake at the cafe....nice things which DS will enjoy.

Mine gets cross with Daddy when he works late for a period of time and kind of pushes him away. He has to make a special effort to tickle her or play silly games with her and then they get close again.

If they don't do the fun stuff, and are only there for the 'stop that' and 'it's bedtime' bits, then they won't enjoy them being around.
