Feeding has always been a challenge for me and my baby. I had a low milk supply to start with so had to top up with formula as he wasn't gaining weight.

Since then he's been a fussy feeder, but it's got gradually worse. He was 25th centile but is now 5th centile. He will only take 60ml per feed before he starts crying and turning his head away. He seems a really unhappy baby, like he is always in pain.

I've been to the GP and they've started me on medications for reflux which has made no difference. I've now been started on a hypoallergenic formula too but he still doesn't like it!

Anybody have any ideas? I spend my whole day trying to get him to take more milk! It's really upsetting me.

Goodness me, so sorry to read what a hard time you're having. I hope now you're in the hospital they get to the bottom of it. It sounds like you have done everything and then some to help him you sound like a great mum Flowers

I'm sorry to hear he's lost more weight but hopefully with him being in hospital there will be a full investigation and get to the bottom of his weight & eating.

Sending you best wishes

Hope you get some answers soon.

For what it's worth DS had CMPI and reflux and the feed refusal was at its absolute height around that age. Some heavy duty acid blockers and hypo formula eventually sorted it, and we were so lucky that he didn't go on to have a long-term food aversion.

Mind you, getting on to that hypo formula was a .... story. We used to have to flavour it heavily, as it tasted awful. I seem to remember we used nesquik. The shame. But it was an evil necessity.

Hope all is OK for you soon OP and OP's little one.

Sorry to hear you are in hospital. Really hope they get to the bottom of it quickly.

Which hypo formula is he now on? The one my son was on was thicker than standard formula so needed a variflow teat as it just clogged up the regular teats - just a thought. Also my son hated the taste to start with & point blank refused it, so we did a gradual shift over a number of days so started off with 1 scoop of the new formula with say 4 of normal then on day 2 we did 2 of new formula to 3 of old one & so on & found he accepted it that way.
Appreciate if yours is barely taking any volume that may not work at this stage but wanted to say it incase it helps.
