Just wondering if anyone has mixed anything with baby rice? DS isn't too keen I think it might be a bit bland for him.

Any ideas thanks in advance

But Crunchy so many parents are evangelical about their way too-like you were in your post.

There is no need to be so aggressive about your point of view. A new parent is here for advice-it would be more interesting and helpful to hear your views without the vitriol.

12 ounces milk in the day? That's tiny! Most babies at 4 months would be having 5-6 ounces every 2-3hrs during the day.

8am -5oz
10am -5oz
12pm -5oz
2pm - 5oz
4pm -5oz
6pm -5oz
8pm -5 oz
10pm -5oz

So 40oz milk in the day. No wonder he wanted milk all night if only 12-15 oz in the day.
Even with the milk you mentioned overnight it wasn't enough for his age. I would ditch all food and increase milk a lot before trying food additionally. Food should be ontop of milk not instead of. So at 6 months they would still have around 40oz milk at first, as well as food. But in less bottles but each bigger ie 7-8oz each every 4hrs and food added

Isn't baby poo supposed to be runny? Confused milky vomit always looks more than it is. Porridge contains gluten so if he has any dietary issues you may inadvertently make it worse. Have you sought hv/gp advice before early weaning?

My dd could also hold her head up at birth. She's 8 months now and I still don't know if she's clever Wink. Sounds like reflux to me. Baby poo is meant to be runny. If I were you I'd wait a while longer and get down the gp and get some reflux meds to see if that helps. Helped my dd massively.

Oh and holding head up from very small can be an indicator of reflux, but that's not widely known.

The problem with giving him food is that nothing he can eat has as many calories as milk. You can unwittingly end up underfeeding him by filling him up on food.

I also suggest rolling back on food completely for the moment and concentrate on milk for now - and see a GP to address potential reglix. Good luck!

Reflux, damn it!

My DD was on purées from 4 months as advised by HV. She had reflux and was able to keep more milk down with a bit of food to settle her tummy. Her weight gain was fantastic when she started on purée, it didn't prevent her having milk.

I agree that baby rice is a bit of a waste of time. I loved the purée stage. My second DD ended up BLW and it was much messier and harder work.
