Is this normal behaviour for a two yo??

My Dh thinks our 2yo has OCD. Would like your opinions please.

Her Juice has to be in the circle part of her high chair and if I put it anywhere else she moves it back. She won't touch "messy things" like play foam or she won't allow paint on her hands of any paint is on her hands she freaks until I take it off. If there's a hair on her hands she freaks until I take it off. Today my partner (cringe alert haha) put fake petals and love hearts on the floor in a trail up to gifts for me and her and she won't walk on them, they're not sharp or anything like that She's literally walking on tip toes so her feet don't touch them. She's the same with food, if she doesn't like the feel of it she won't eat it. Is this normal behaviour? Thank you

Ds1 was like that. She spent more the washing her hands tgan painting if we did crafts and would change her entire outfit if she got a drop of water on it.

She's 16yo now and I am totally confident she hasn't ocd or anything else.

My experience of two year olds is that they can be very particular. My two year old won't walk on sand, complains if her socks aren't on exactly straight and won't wear mismatched pyjamas (a couple of examples of many little peculiarities). She also does not like having sticky hands and will choose to spend ages washing them.

My first dc is now 5 but also went through similar little quirks and has grown out of most of them now.

Keep an eye on her, I'd probably only worry if these things take over her world.

Yes, normal. DD cried if we put fruit on her highchair tray, or if she walked on sand, or if she got her hands dirty. She's a perfectly normal 6.5 year old now. aside from some fussy eating issues

I was like that since little and also my siblings.
All those things seem normal to me (which is why there is a circle there to put the bottle people!!)

OCD is not about just order.

I do happen to suffer from OCD BUT very mild and my sibling don't. It also doesnt have an impact on my life at all.

I wouldnt be diagnosing something like this at that age, particularly if you can manage it

It is an issue when it affects normal life

My 2yo is very particular. The socks on straight thing, and the drink in a particular place is all very familiar to me. He likes things to be just so. I'm not worried.

My 18 month old is exactly the same. We find food the worst. He'll eat a small roast potato but if we give him a cut one, he'll touch it, not like the feel and refuse to touch anything else on his tray. I'm hoping he'll just grow out of it.

Definitely normal. DS1 was like that - hated messy play, painting etc as it got his hands dirty - he will still run and wash them if they get dirty now, aged 8 - he just likes being clean though!

DS2 (10 months old) on the other hand is drawn magnetically to messy play etc - loves it - will happily throw up on his hands and make patterns with it instantly before he's reached (gross wee thing!) DS1 spends a lot of time following him with wet wipes...
They're all different!

Kids get weird ideas.

DS1 always wears his pants backwards, he, too hates anything slimy/dirty and would never touch, and will never share food, will not eat gloopy food like custard/yoghurt.

DS2 is particular about where things go, and has strong aversions to certain textures/flavours too (obviously different ones to DS1 or live would be too easy). He must wear trousers at all times, and they must be joggers (no un-stretchy fabric on his body ever)

So I would say completely normal. You just get used to automatically following whichever foible they've decided to have that month.
