10 week old unsettled in day

Hi

Was wondering if anyone had similar experience. The past 2 weeks my baby has gone from a relatively happy baby to doing inconsolable cries in the day time. He goes down a dream at night and sleeps really well, wakes up generally in a good mood. Then this slowly wears off and he gets grumpy into the afternoon and into the evening until he's put down in his cot again.

I've been advised to try stimulate him more in a day, but some days he is too unsettled to even consider playing. He doesn't nap great in a day so I wonder if he's overtired as his crying either ends in a sleep or a feed. Only white noise seems to help him settle completely.

Since last night I've tried infacol to see if it's colic, but would colic start this late and would it only affect him in the day? Also wonder if he's constipated as he doesn't seem to be as regular now and his last poo was pretty hard.

He settles well in his pram/in the car but obviously I can't spend all my time doing that. Just want my happy baby back.. any suggestions would be great! Thanks xxx

Sounds like he could just be tired. Lots of people get grumpy late afternoon!

Is he eating enough? If he's sleeping through the night is he getting enough milk during the day? He could maybe be hungry.

If he settles well in the car, pram, cot and with white noise then I don't think he's crying because of lack of stimulation....maybe over stimulation!

Thanks for your reply! I'm thinking it's either the sleep thing or hungry. As it usually results in one of these to settle him! Putting him up and oz as of his next bottle so will see if he's any better after that. Sure is a minefield!

Another vote for overstimulation. My 11 week old has just been diagnosed with reflux- a possibility with yours?

I'm wondering more and more if it's colic as when I've been around friends and family and he's been like it they say it looks like colic. Sorry this sounds really dumb but what is overstimulation? Is this something I've caused?
