TEETH: what are these lumps?

Seems like LO has been teething forever (he's now just over 4 months). He has 2 white lines on the underside of his front gums where I assume the teeth will emerge. But now he has 2 sharp lumps on the outside of the gums as well (if that makes sense ). It seems to be very painful - is this the teeth moving down?

Yes - white lines normally indicates a tooth is literally just about to cut. We normally get this a day or two before hand. The lumps you describe I think are probably teeth moving in to the gums. These seem to be present for ages before the tooth actually appears.

Hmm - seems to have been the other way round. He's has the lines for ages and the lumps for a day or so (I think). Is he just weird?

Still no teeth and a very grumpy baby! We'll have to get some more Calpol in if this carries on. Surely they should be through soon?

We had the asme until last week when 2 teeth suddenly popped through!!!
I just bought a soother for applying bonjella etc which has helped alot. I think it was a tommee tippee gadjet. It was in Boots with the Dummies and soothing rings, looks just like a dummy at first glance but is actually a teething "soother".

Yep just the teeht pushing through, dd and now ds both had the white lines appear as if the tooth was just there then as it pushes through the gum has a lump. Not sure if it is a bit of swelling or just the gun being pushed up as the tooth comes through.
