How long can your babies stay awake between naps?

i know, i know, I posted this very same thread when ds was about 3 months. Now he is approaching 6 months (24 weeks today - how did that happen?! ) and I wanted to know what all your lo's are/were doing at same age. He seems to manage 2 hours quite well but I remember my dd had two naps per day at this age - morning and after lunch so she must have been awake more. They are all different I know but just wondered what your lo's 'routines' were like at 6 months.

Neither of my DS's managed much more than 2 hours awake before they were nine months old.

Wake up 6.30/7 - sleep 9ish
Awake 10ish
Sleep 12ish
Wake 2ish
Asleep 4.30ish
Awake 5ish
Asleep - 6.30ish

Loosely based on she who shall not be named's regime which was implemented to the nth degree with DS1. After DS2 was born was just sort of slipped into this - I didn't really try - he just naturally liked to nap at those times.

My DS2 does pretty much the same as dejags', although he'll sometimes sleep longer after lunch and skip a nap in the afternoon... Also loosely based on SWMNBN's book, but like dejags, he's kind of fallen into it on his own.

hi clairmow - hope your lo is doing well. Mine has been having some sleep issues lately! Was getting better but now has a cold (again) so we are back to square one . Anyway, about 1hr in the morning, 2 hrs after lunch and a short one in the afternoon?

something like that, yes. Often 1/2 hour to 45 mins in the am. He's not sleeping the short afternoon one more and more. Can hear him waking now...

is yours 6 months already? mine is 24 weeks today. he has had two good naps today but that is due to the regular wakings at night of the past two nights

in a rally unhelpful way, when I read your title I thought "two and a half days"(he's seven weeks!) but I've forgiven him now having had ONE good night's sleep this week!

oh spina! poor little mite probably doesn't know his days from nights (well let's give him that excuse for now anyway!). Crikey, that's a lot of wake time for such a young one. Let's hope it is not a pattern set for life!

clairmow - how old is your other lo? My dd is 9 yo! She is fantastic. a mini mum!

ds is 6 months on saturday. he falls asleep usually twice a day and stays asleep for less than 10 minutes each time . BUT i don't mind because after his bf at 7ish he's asleep normally til 7 in the morning.

my other dcs have given up day time naps by a year to 18 months

cruise, my other DS is 2.9 now. Not quite a mini-dad! He didn't give up having a sleep in the day until he was about 2.5... Miss it...

I am so glad you asked this question - I feel a bit better now! My DD is now doing ok at going down at night (wakes a few times)but naps much less than the other babies around us. My DP says she is just intelligent and wants to take it all in (bless him for being so helpful!)

DD does not seem to do the same in any one day, she goes to bed at roughly 7 - 8 but can get up anywhere between 7 and 10 in the mornings! (10 is v rare by the way!) but naps are usually 45 minutes 2 times a day but recently she has been doing 2 45 minutes and a 10 minute "crash" late in the day. Makes me think she needs longer at the others?

She was 24 weeks on Tuesday so nearly the same asge as yours Cruisemum.
